Who We Are

Timeless Design With A Classic Touch

Bill

Trapp Forge was the Carter family smithy. Bill’s father was the blacksmith, his mother the designer. Working on numerous projects with his father Bill honed his skill since a young age most notably working for the Malmaison Hotels, Manhattan Brewing Company, the Honourable Arterially Company and the Royal Family. Whilst a young man Bill travelled as a journeyman working with a blacksmith in Australia and later in France. He came home and after the death of his father took over the family business. He ran Trapp Forge up until 2018 then after a short spell working at an industrial forge he and Oscar set up Carter and Duck Blacksmiths.

Oscar

At age 13 years old Oscar decided to build a forge in his garden after watching a few YouTube videos, convincing himself it was a good idea. He started off by literally digging a hole in the ground, making his own charcoal and scavenging for steel around the farm. Then with his mum's hair dryer and dad's claw hammer he got to work. A few years down the line he met Bill at Trapp Forge who offered him a Saturday job. In 2023 Oscar similarly to Bill went aboard to work with a blacksmith. He ended up in New Zealand working for Artistic blacksmith Chris Moore, where Oscar work on numerous artistic projects from a 6.5m tall leaf sculpture to a 10.5m geometric sculpture that turned in the wind. Now, back in England, Oscar is looking to apply all the skills he has learnt in the decade since first picking up a hammer.

In 2025 Carter & Duck Blacksmiths Ltd set up their garden range Anvil & Moor, based in the heart of the Ribble Valley, continuing their tradition of expert craftsmanship. With a passion for traditional craftsmanship, we create well-made, simple pieces that embody history, pride, and quality. Every item we forge carries a timeless feel, blending durability with elegant design.

At Anvil & Moor, we believe in the beauty of heritage techniques combined with a contemporary touch. Each piece we craft is shaped by hand, using time-honoured methods passed down through generations. From elegantly forged garden benches to robust fire pits and bespoke commissions tailored to individual needs, our work is a reflection of dedication, skill, and creativity.

Our ethos is rooted in sustainability and authenticity. We carefully select high-quality materials to ensure longevity, creating pieces that not only stand the test of time but also develop character with age. Whether you're looking for a unique addition to your outdoor space or a custom piece with personal significance, we take pride in bringing your vision to life through the art of blacksmithing.
